Our granite in our new kitchen was installed today! Plus our refrigerator arrived last week, and it and all the appliances are now connected to power as of yesterday!

There’s still work to be done, but we were able to prep wine and dinner in our new kitchen tonight, and we didn’t have to go down and up stairs for dinner on our deck. Yahoo!

We bought our house on July 31, 2018 – and our new kitchen is a nice almost-one-year-anniversary present. I’m so happy our next visitors in August, Karen and Tootie, will get to enjoy it, as will all visitors to come.

Below are some photos of the installation. I’ve never built a kitchen from scratch before, so the process was fascinating to me.

I’m actually writing this post at our new bar in the kitchen, where you’ll see me in the below photo.

Cheers!

The slab of granite for the cooktop came with a “cross” in it, for stability during transport. So Guillaume and his colleague cut it in our courtyard.

Up the stairs.

Jeff needed to chisel out part of our wall to accommodate our backsplash (the 90-year age of the house probably contributed to the curve in the wall.) And he had a lot of fun imagining that he did the chiseling with the antique stone-cutter’s mallet that he bought a few weeks ago.

Success!
