Day 3 – Monday, March 18.

Rick’s “Discovering Avignon’s Back Streets” walk. Below: Hotel La Mirande.

Below: Church of St. Pierre (St. Peter)

Below: Place des Châtaignes

Below: A walk on the other side of the Rhône River for beautiful views of the famous bridge, the Papal Palaces and the city walls.

Below: Still on the other side of the Rhône. Some day I’d love to take a bike ride here, on the Ile de las Barthelasse.

Below: Lunch outside on Place St-Pierre (the square in front of Church of St. Peter) at L’Epicerie for a veal main course, and an artichoke salad. Lovely setting, lovely service.

Back to the train station, for our 2.5 hour train ride home.

Un merveilleux voyage! (A marvelous trip!)

Some day I’ll send a suggested itinerary for a long weekend trip during shoulder season. We learned a lot by being there, and I’d love to share some things that we’d do differently next time.

Thanks for joining us in beautiful Avignon!
